Men's a Cappella Singing (aka Barbershop)

 

Family Update:

Gil is currently living in Arlington, TX. Gil lives in this house. Judith passed away in June 2022.

Gil is now the Director of the Museum of Information Technology at Arlington. We have a pretty decent collection started. Check the web site to see what we are up to and to make donations, etc.

Gil is retired from lecturing in the

  Computer Science and Engineering Department
  at the University of Texas at Arlington

Buzz is an independent TV producer and director, mostly of sports events. He is now living in Arlington! For several years now he has maintained a fan web site for the FC Dallas soccer team, 3rd Degree. (The team was originally the Dallas burn.) It has a sterling reputation as one of the premier NFL fan websites. In October of 2013, Buzz married Amy Colquhoun.

Matt is now "Dr. Carrick." He is a trauma surgeon and focuses mainly on emergency medicine. For several years he was on the faculty at Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He is CMO and Senior Vice President for Acute Surgical Care Specialists, a surgical group in the DFW Metroplex. He got married 9/15/2001. (At least he will never forget his anniversary.) His wife is the former Kelli Connell. She is also "Dr. Carrick," as she has a PhD in Social Work. Here is a nice picture of her for those of you who have not met her. Matt has a family as well. If you want to know more about them you need to ask Matt.

I also have a daughter who is married and lives in Mandeville, LA. Her name is Kim Mele. She is married to Pete Mele. Here is their picture. They have a daughter born Nov. 29th, 2006. Her name is Olivia Grace Mele and here is her picture.

Aren't you turned off by those web sites that give you a 2MB picture of the author's dog on the home page? Still, I've got a scanner & I'm vain enough to think you might like to see our family, so here we are quite a few years ago. I have since lost the beard but still have the hair.

Men's a cappella singing:

In the last couple of decades I have gotten involved with an a cappella singing group. It is called the Goodtimes Chorus. It is a chapter of an international organization, the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. We sing mainly barbershop style but with other things thrown in for fun or to fit the season. If you like to sing or just to listen we would welcome you at our rehearsal on any Tues. at 7 pm. I have been in a couple of quartets:

The first was Four Part Derangement.

One of them, Cooper Street, narrowly missed qualifying for the district contest:Cooper Street.

My third quartet venture was Phlabbergas, twice dead and revived, but now retired.

My next quartet is a reincarnation of the Cooper Street name with just me from the original quartet and three other guys. Again we just missed qualifying for the District contest.

My next quartet was Close Accord.

I was also in a Very Large Quartet (VLQ - an ensemble) called Vocal Gold.

My current quartet is AweDacity.
